Twice a week, I would pick up a small group of children and young adults from a refugee shelter, and bring them to my colorful studio. The children did not go to school, always in the loud, grey, crowded shelter.
Together we walked in nature and created things like: Tiny Homes. Small artworks exploring the theme of “home” and what it means to feel at home.
The workshops brought joy, laughter, and even dancing, giving participants a sense of freedom and belonging they rarely experienced in the shelter. People from different countries, different cultures became friends and a lasting sense of unity was created. The project showed vividly how creativity can heal, connect, and spark hope.
